Role Summary
Investigating and effectively handling a portfolio of Marine and Casualty claims under broad supervision. Working within authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting policy coverages, escalating issues as needed.
- Setting activities and reserves and authorising payments within scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost effective and timely manner.
- Participating in performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, insureds, claimants, witnesses and experts.
- Partnering with legal counsel, account representatives, brokers, underwriters and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost effective resolution of claims.
- Developing and maintaining strong broker relationships.
- Analysing claims activities and preparing reports for management review.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience of handling Marine and/or Casualty claims.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
