Role Summary
Investigating and effectively handling a wide range of Casualty claims under limited technical direction. Working within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring significant technical complexity and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of UK and International Casualty claims with limited supervision, ranging in complexity and written on both the Syndicate and Company platforms.
- Interpreting more complex or unusual policy coverages, escalating issues as needed.
- Coordinating and performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, brokers, business partners and experts.
- Partnering with solicitors, customers, brokers, experts and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost effective resolution of more complex claims.
- Proactively managing claims, setting early and accurate reserves in line with reserving philosophy, and authorising payments within scope of authority.
- Ensuring large and significant claims are identified at an early stage and escalated as needed.
- Providing guidance, assistance and mentoring to less experienced claims colleagues.
- Identifying claims with third party recovery / fraud potential and coordinating with relevant stakeholder functions.
- Analysing claims activities and preparing / presenting reports for management. May be responsible for special projects and presentations.
Key Requirements
- Significant proven claims handling experience is needed, with a focus on Casualty classes.
- Experience in Employers’ Liability, General Liability and Products Liability is required, although development support will be provided as needed.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
